Charnetta B. is a mother of five who “can talk her way out of anything”, which led her to take criminal justice classes while also punching in and out of her regular job every day. In the meantime, she was missing her children as they were growing up. Even though she had never sold anything, she decided to get licensed to sell insurance with another company in hopes of providing a better life for her family. “I’d heard a lot about Senior Life Insurance Company while working with a different insurance company, “ she says. “I even knew a Senior Life agent who tried to recruit me for a couple of years, but I was stubborn. Because of this particular agent, I finally agreed to visit the Home Office in Thomasville, Georgia. Once I arrived, I still didn’t have any expectations.”

As she got on the elevator, it just so happened that the Company President, Ron Powell, was getting on as well.

“You don’t normally meet the President of a company…ever! He went on to explain to me that if he couldn’t invite me and my family over for dinner, he didn’t want to work with me. In other words, he only wants trustworthy people working for this company.”

Having been impressed by getting to have a one-on-one conversation with the Company President and seeing firsthand the level of integrity that Senior Life requires of it’s recruits, she contracted the same day in the Home Office.

“I’ll be honest, it was difficult at first. I showed up at houses and got turned down. As my family witnessed me having a hard time, they were encouraging me to give up. I kept at it though. Things soon started to turn around. I had to become stronger and more disciplined. Now I’m experiencing success, financial stability, and I’m leaving behind a legacy for my children. I would also encourage any mother to do this for a living. Because of my flexible schedule, I get to spend time with my kids and be present for their events.”
