Leslie S. — Owens Insurance Group
The first thing you notice when having a conversation with Leslie S., is her joy and contagious laughter. “I always wanted to help someone. I always thought I’d be a nurse, “ she says, reflecting on her childhood. Coming from a big family, she and her eight sisters got to live in different places while their father served in the military. After high school, she came to Valdosta, Georgia where her mother opened up a restaurant, which she eventually sold. “To this day, people ask me if my mother will ever open that restaurant again, “ she laughs.
Eventually, Leslie did set out to become a nurse. “I joined the nursing program, which is very time-consuming. You have to maintain a 3.0 GPA to stay in the program, but when I found out that I was going to have my child, I had alot of sickness and couldn’t continue on.” In the meantime, she worked an office job and felt unsatisfied. So she did what any woman of faith would do, she prayed for a better opportunity.
In 2016, having never sold anything, she attended a Senior Life Insurance Company seminar hosted by Regional Directors, Brandon O. and Tim W. As they spoke about the opportunity, Leslie became intrigued; especially about Legacy Assurance. “God told me to go talk to Brandon O., who was standing in the corner,” she says. After they spoke, she went to two interviews and was later hired for telesales. The process for getting licensed, along with training, went quickly. To her surprise, she was able to make three sales in the first week! She soon realized that here at Senior Life, there was no limit to what she could make financially, and her success skyrocketed.
“There are times when you get frustrated about not being where you want to be. Brandon O. and Tim W. have been mentors and an inspiration for me. They help put me back in the right mindset,“ she says. “I thank God for them.”
